Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has finally lifted the veil on its Redmi Y3 smartphone in India today. The handset is the successor to its selfie-centric Redmi Y2, launched in 2018. Redmi Y3 comes with a 32 megapixel selfie camera and is backed by a 4000mAh battery.
Pricing and availability
The Redmi Y3 comes with a starting price of Rs 9,999 for the base variant of 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Another model with 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM will sell for Rs 11,999.
The smartphone will be available from April 30 on Amazon.in, Mi.com, Mi Home, Mi Stores and Mi Preferred Business Partners. Airtel users will get over 1120 GB of 4G data and unlimited calling to the purchase of the device.
Characteristics
The Redmi Y3 boasts of a 32-megapixel camera with AI Beauty 4.0 and automatic HDR on the front for selfies. The front camera has an 80-degree field of view and Full HD selfie video recording with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). The dual rear camera setup includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary 2-megapixel depth sensor. The features available with the camera are AI scene detection, Full HD 60 fps video recording, and integration with the Google lens.
The phone has a 6.26 inch HD + IPS LCD display with Dot notch and 19: 9 aspect ratio. It has an ‘Aura Prism’ design on the back side. Bold Red, Prime Black, and Elegant Blue are the color options that buyers will get.
The Redmi Y3 device is backed by a 4000mAh battery. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 octa-core chipset and runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 operating system out of the box.
For connectivity, the handset has a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is a rear mounted fingerprint reader on the back. Redmi Y3 is a dual SIMphone with 2 + 1 card drawer. The device has a double sheet of pyrolytic graphite which lowers its temperature by 2 degrees Celsius.
