When Apple announced the new iPhone 13 series, it also introduced several new camera features, including photographic styles for photos and cinematic mode for video shooting. In this article, we take a look at what photographic styles are and how to use them.

Photographic styles are a series of subtle filter-like adjustments that you can activate before taking pictures, allowing you to pre-apply a stylistic effect to your shots that won’t affect your skin tone. topics. These styles are available in four presets: Vibrant, Rich Contrast, Warm, and Cool.

Vibrant captures the photo in vivid, vivid and natural colors, while Rich Contrast adds a more dramatic look that makes shadows darker and increases color and contrast. Warm adds a summery golden undertone to the subjects, and cool uses blue undertones to achieve its signature cool look.

These styles work smarter than filters because they capture certain elements of the photo as it is taken, rather than applying edits during post-processing. Plus, Tone and Warmth are customizable for each style, so you can achieve the exact look you want and keep it throughout your photoshoot. Photographic styles can also be used with the front camera, so you can personalize your selfies. Keep in mind, however, that a style cannot be removed from a photo once taken.

Here’s how to use Photo Styles on all iPhone 13‌ models.

  1. Start the Camera app on your ‌iPhone 13‌.
  2. If you’ve never used Photographic Styles before, or if you’ve previously chosen Standard mode, drag the horizontal menu below the viewfinder so that Photo is selected, then swipe up from the bottom of the viewfinder and press the Photographic styles icon (it looks like three cards lined up).
  3. Cycle through the four presets (in addition to the Standard option) and you can preview each one applied to the scene currently in the viewfinder.
  4. Use the optional Tone and Warmth sliders under the viewfinder to adjust the appearance to your preferences.
  5. When you are ready, press the Shutter button.
  6. Now that your style is active, you will see the Photographic Style icon appear in the upper right corner of the Camera interface. Tap it to change the style at any time.

By default, the photographic style you select will remain active the next time you launch the Camera app until you select a different one or revert to the standard style. You can also change the active photographic style using the Settings app.
