The original story follows:

Last year, an update caused the death of the popular Poco X2 camera. After lots of negative feedback, Poco fixed the issue and assured users that their service center will fix the motherboard for free. After several months, it seems that the problem is happening again but this time on Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Redmi Note 10 Pro users have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment at the camera death after the new update. A day ago, Redmi Note 10 Pro users started receiving MIUI V12.5.10.0.RKFINXM update, however, after updating the device, things went downhill. Users report that they cannot use the camera app after the new update.

Redmi Note 10 Pro camera not working after MIUI 12.5 update

A user named Soumyadip tweeted a video in which he claimed that his brother’s Redmi Note 10 Pro selfie camera was not working and any app using the front camera was also crashing. Moreover, Soumyadip adds that his brother’s friend is facing the same problem. As his phone was under warranty period, the service center replaced the motherboard for free otherwise it would have cost Rs 11,500 to change the motherboard.

Another user named Akshay Nair said that after updating his Redmi Note 10 Pro to MIUI V12.5.10.0.RKFINXM, he started facing the camera issue on his phone. According to him, the front camera is unusable in the default camera app because it crashes again and again. All apps using the front camera such as Duo or Whatsapp also crash. However, after restarting the device, the front camera resumes normal operation, he says.

Twitter user Abhishek Yadav tweeted on January 15 that he was told by two Redmi Note 10 Pro users that their front camera was not working after MIUI 12.5.9 update.

That said, this isn’t the first time an MIUI update has caused a problem for Xiaomi/Poco users. As mentioned earlier, the Poco X2 camera started crashing after an update that caused a lot of noise. However, Poco had addressed the issue saying the problem was tiny and they would fix the motherboard for free.

If you encounter this problem, we will suggest that you restart your phone.
